During his decades career as a filmmaker Dick Rude learned the trade of carpentry to supplement his income. In 1997 he began working for WadeCo Design, specializing in high end Commercial Spaces and Historic Renovations. After running operations for WadeCo for 5 years Dick took 2 years off to care for his dying mother.

In 2017 Rude earned his General Contractor’s License and formed Rebel’s Wood. Some of the projects he has completed have been renovations on Mid-century Moderns, Spanish and Craftsmen houses, ADUs, kitchen and bath remodels, commercial offices, recording studios, restaurants, bars and retail stores. Silverlake Conservatory of Music has employed Rebel’s Wood since 2017 doing soundproofing, paint, carpentry, electrical and recently comissioned a massive parking lot mural.

Rebel’s Wood is available for foundation to finish, building from the ground up as well as remodeling and landscaping. Dick is also available for design consultation.  His aesthetic, expertise, experience and reputation are the qualities that drive all of his work through word of mouth.

“Contracting comes with quite a large stigma attached,” says Rude, “I pride myself in the qualities of transparency, communication, service and expedience. People want someone they can trust with their vision and money and that is asking a lot. I always put myself in the client’s shoes and aim to deliver what I would want from a contractor if I were spending my money. At the end of the day I like to leave my jobs knowing no one will be saying my name in a negative way. I have many repeat customers and they will all tell you that I deliver as promised.“
